Message from The Deputy Commissioner Shri. Sandeep Kumar Singh, IAS

The overall governance standard in the Capital Complex over the last six months has improved visibly in terms of better law and order situation and an almost brake to the frequent Bandh calls. In order to curb the menace of “Bandh” in the State Capital, many exemplary and stern actions have been taken including coordination with all the stake-holders, active field presence on the Bandh Days, preventive arrests etc. The step to personally book the office bearers of the organizations, who call the bandhs, for damage to any private/ public property would be a boon for the State to tackle the bandh menace.

The continuous demolition drives against the encroachments on the National Highway and other roads have discouraged the new encroachers of government land. The demolition of illegally constructed structures on NH52A and sector roads has helped in widening and beautification of the roads. Even these widening & beautification have been done with the initiatives of the District Administration out of its Untied Fund/ Innovation Fund, etc. Stern action including criminal action against the encroachers of government quarters and against those who have illegally demolished government quarters has discouraged new encroachments of govt. quarters and would help in regaining previously encroached quarters.

A number of enforcement drives against use of plastic bags, ILP checking, illegal liquor/ tobacco sale, unauthorised dumping of construction material/ debris on roads etc. have not only helped keep the city neat and clean but also ensured rule of law in the State Capital.

The land allotment system in the Capital Complex has been streamlined to a large extent and the procedure of unplanned land allotment has been virtually stopped.

So be it law & order, Bandh, demolition of illegal encroachments, widening/ beautification of NH, major criminal action against illegal demolition of govt. quarters, various enforcement drives, etc, all these steps in various spheres have made a perceptible difference in the governance standards in the Capital Complex. This has helped in definitely maintaining a better law and order situation in the State Capital and has increased the confidence of the public in the District Administration. All these steps by the District Administration over last six months have also been well appreciated by the media and general public.
